Washer and Dryer Cleaning

Tip: Ink Stain Removal from Dryer
To get ink stains out of your dryer, rubbing alcohol tends to work best if you saturate a rag with it and wipe the dryer drum. Keep changing rags until no more comes off. Then dry a couple of old towels to make sure nothing comes off on fabrics.

You can also remove ink stains from your clothes dryer by placing 2 cups of bleach in a bucket, then filling the bucket halfway with water. Take some old towels and soak up the liquid in the bucket. You don`t want the towels to be dripping wet, just very damp. Place them directly into the dryer to remove the ink and run an entire cycle. Repeat if necessary. When you feel you have removed the ink sufficiently, place an old dry towel in the dryer to make sure that you removed all of the ink.

Tip: Tar Removal from Dryer
To get melted tar off your dryer walls, try using WD-40. Spray it around the edges, and work it in to try and loosen the tar. If the tar is particularly soft or sticky from being melted, try holding an ice cube in a plastic bag over it first to harden it, and try to chip off as much as possible. Prewash spray may also do the trick.

Tip: Hard Water Stain and Soap Scum Removal from Washing Machine
To remove soap scum and hard water deposits from your washing machine, add 1/2 gallon (2 litres) of white vinegar and let the machine run through an entire wash cycle.

Tip: Washing Machine Care and Cleaning
Keep your washing machine clean by adding 1/2 gallon (2 litres) of vinegar and let the machine run through an entire wash cycle. Do this once a year to keep your machine sparkling. To remove an odor from your washing machine, place 2-4 cups of bleach in your washer (no clothes necessary), then set the washer to fill up with water. Stop the washer cycle after the water is in and let it sit for 15 minutes. Continue the wash cycle through the agitate and rinsing cycles.

Tip: Gum Removal from Dryer
To get melted gum off your dryer walls, try using WD-40. Spray it around the edges, and work it in to try and loosen the gum. If the gum is particularly soft or sticky from being melted, try holding an ice cube in a plastic bag over the gum first to harden it, then try to chip off as much as possible. Prewash spray may also do the trick.

Tip: Fabric Softener Build Up Removal from Washing Machine
To clean the build up in your washing machine, add 1/2 gallon (2 litres) of vinegar and let the machine run through an entire wash cycle. Do this once a year to keep your machine sparkling.

Tip: Inhibit Lint Formation in Washing Machine
To stop lint from forming in your washer, try unclogging or cleaning out the washing machine´s lint filter, following the manufacturer´s instructions.
